Freshman Sire Pride of Dubai Off the Mark at Ayr

Star Of Emaraaty Racing Post

By

Coolmore-based sire Pride of Dubai (Aus) (Street Cry {Ire}) became the latest European freshman off the mark when the twice-raced juvenile Star of Emaraaty (Ire) survived a stewards' enquiry to prevail in Monday's EBF Stallions Fillies' Novice Auction S. over an extended seven furlongs at Ayr. In front throughout, the 2-1 second favourite came under ever-increasing pressure inside the final quarter mile and was ridden out in the closing stages to deny Party Spirit (GB) (Night of Thunder {Ire}) by a neck.

3rd-Ayr, £6,400, Nov, 7-13, 2yo, f, 7f 50yT, 1:31.88, gd.
STAR OF EMARAATY (IRE) (f, 2, Pride of Dubai {Aus}–La Grande Elisa {Ire}, by Ad Valorem) shaped with promise when a June 7 debut second over six furlongs at Haydock, posting an 11th of 18 to Campanelle (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}) dropped to five for Royal Ascot's June 20 G2 Queen Mary S. next time, and hit the lids ready for immediate control of this first try at seven furlongs. Scrubbed along when threatened approaching the quarter-mile marker, the 2-1 second favourite came under ever-increasing pressure thereafter and, despite instigating a stewards' enquiry when drifting right inside the final furlong, was ridden out to hold the persistent presence of Party Spirit (GB) (Night of Thunder {Ire}) by a neck, becoming the first winner for her Coolmore Stud-based freshman sire (by Street Cry {Ire}). Kin to a yearling filly by Moohaajim (Ire), the February-foaled chestnut is the fourth of five foals and second scorer produced by a half-sister to MG1SW sire Rip Van Winkle (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), G3 Premio Enrico Camici-winning sire Le Vie Infinite (Ire) (Le Vie Dei Colori {GB}) and to the dam of stakes-winning G1 Middle Park S. runner-up Fleet Review (War Front). Sales history: €6,800 RNA Ylg '19 GOFFEB; €3,500 Ylg '19 GOFSPT. Lifetime Record: 3-1-1-0, $6,789.
